Leadership that puts people first
Why Am I Running?
Our City Is Full of Untapped Potential, Creativity, and Resilience
To build a stronger, more sustainable Calgary that truly works for everyone, we need forward-thinking leadership who will:
Embrace innovation
Create real solutions and change
Ensure our neighbourhoods thrive
City council has the potential to drive meaningful change in our community. By working together with a shared purpose, we can rebuild trust, strengthen civic engagement, and create responsive institutions that serve everyone. Challenges like affordability, climate action, social connection, public safety, and economic opportunity are not just obstacles—they are opportunities to show what an engaged and accountable local government can accomplish.
With the world in turmoil and our local democracy under attack, we need to focus on home—strengthening our neighbourhoods and city to build resilience and our collective wellbeing. If we get this right, we won’t just tackle today’s challenges—we’ll create bold, new opportunities for Calgary to thrive going forward.
Now is the time for real solutions that put people first and create meaningful change. As your councillor, I’ll bring fresh ideas, pragmatic leadership, and a deep commitment to making Calgary safer, more affordable, and more sustainable for all.
What Is My Experience?
Leading Change That Puts People First
Over the past decade, I’ve developed a passion for civic advocacy, getting involved with local issues like affordability, housing, and transit. This included serving on the City’s Funding and Finance Committee for the Established Areas Growth and Change Strategy, and my local Ward 7 community association’s Planning and Development Committee. I also worked alongside groups like the Calgary Alliance for the Common Good and Calgary Climate Hub to champion initiatives like the City’s low-income transit pass and free transit for youth aged 12 and under.
For the past five years, I worked as a Service Design Lead at the Calgary Public Library. My job was to listen to community needs, work with partner organizations, and develop new initiatives in the areas of entrepreneurship and adult creativity, technology access, and civic engagement. I delivered many innovative projects, but two highlights were the Plan My Vote tool, which helped over 10,000 Calgarians create customized voting plans, and Prototype: Skyview, the Library’s newest branch focused on delivering technology services in an underserved area of the city.
Before joining the Library, I led the team at CJSW 90.9 FM, Calgary’s non-profit community radio station that serves as a key pillar for Calgary’s arts and cultural communities. I supported staff and 250+ volunteers, while modernizing the way the station operated—quadrupling the station’s signal strength and making every radio show available as a podcast. I learned the incredible value of having a shared vision while allowing individuals to thrive and champion their unique communities, arts, and culture.
Who Am I?
Deeply Invested and Connected to This City
Beyond my professional work, I’ve volunteered and served on boards and committees with organizations like Sled Island, Local Library, and Music Calgary. Through my involvement in Calgary’s vibrant music and arts scene, I found incredible people doing incredible things—communities working tirelessly to make Calgary a better place. This experience transformed my perspective on the city, teaching me the incredible value of being an active participant rather than a passive audience member, and rooting me firmly in the city I love.
I’ve lived my entire life in NW Calgary and, while it can have its challenges, this city has given me the foundation to live an incredible life. From the natural beauty of our rolling foothills, to a music and arts scene rich in talent and world-class festivals, to people from all walks of life coming together to actively build community, I have experienced some of the best Calgary has to offer.
For the past twenty years I’ve called Ward 7 home alongside my wife Jessye, our three daughters, and our dog Popcorn. Ensuring Calgary will provide my kids and future generations with the same opportunities to build their own city-within-the-city is one of the biggest drivers for my desire to serve on city council. I hope you’ll join me in this commitment to making Ward 7—and all of Calgary—a place we’re proud to call home, today and for generations to come.
